SOUTH FLORIDA ENTREPRENEUR BRINGS NEW FITNESS CONCEPT TO BROWARD

BOCA RATON, FL: March 28, 2011 - The founder of Planet Fitness - a native of Broward County – is bringing a new concept in fitness to South Florida. And he’s displaying it in two new health clubs in Broward.

Rick Berks’ new company, Youfit Health Clubs (www.youfithealthclubs.com), already has eight clubs open in South Florida, and 25 throughout the state. Now he’s opening two more, in Margate (3133 N. State Road 7) and North Pompano Beach (3555 N. Federal Highway). Youfit is a different type of health club. There are no long-term commitments (you pay by the month). No pumped-up bodybuilders or gym rats. No singles scenes. No worn-out equipment (all the machines are brand-new and top-of-the-line). No pressure to join (because there are no long-term commitments). No pushy instructors whose primary goal seems to be to make you feel insecure about yourself. And no carbon footprint – there are energy-efficient lighting, A/C, and hot-water systems. These, in fact, may be the “greenest” gyms in America (you’ll be walking on floors made of recycled sneakers!).

Youfit Health Clubs is for what Rick Berks calls “the rest of us.” These are clubs for people who aren’t planning to enter bodybuilding championships, and who aren’t there to meet a member of the opposite sex. And the fees are probably the lowest you’ll ever see for a first-rate fitness club.

Berks is a graduate of Pompano Beach High School. And he’s a successful entrepreneur, with a very colorful story.

“We’re building clubs for people who don’t want to deal with the trauma and drama of the usual health club,” Berks says. “You wouldn’t believe how often I speak with people who actually believe they have to get in shape before they’ll feel comfortable walking in to a club.”

The “Youfit” name says it all, according to Berks. He’s building clubs where people who just want to get healthier – instead of “pumped” - will “fit” right in.

“We get people off the couch,” Rick Berks says. “And we create new businesses that are good to the environment.”

I’ll follow up with a phone call soon to see if I can answer any questions. In the meantime, please feel free to contact me if I can answer any questions, or if you’d like to speak with Rick Berks, at (954) 575-4089, or steve@winstoncommunications.com.
